Braemar’s 2011 Adult Swim

Braemar has added an additional Adult Swim to the summer calendar.  Last year, Adult Swim happened from 8p-10p on Wednesdays.  This year, 2011, it is happening from 8p-10p on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Iona Sound pool.

Adult Swim is a great chance to enjoy the pool without the little ones around.  These time frames are for pool use for those 18 years of age or older.

Braemar’s First Park: Braemar Park

Braemar Park in Bristow, VA’s community of Braemar is just one of two official parks in the community.  There are tot lots scattered here and there in Braemar, but nothing with a sign welcoming you like Clareybrook Park or Braemar Park.

Braemar Park is located in front of Cedar Point Elementary School, off of Iona Sound Drive in the older, or first built, section of Braemar.  With two soccer fields, one full size basketball court, two tennis courts and a playground comprised of swings, slides and jungle gyms, it’s no wonder that this park attracts adults and children alike.

  • This park is home to practice for local soccer teams.
  • The annual Braemar Easter Egg Hunt uses the park to engage youngsters in a bit of holiday fun
  • The Braemar 5K run starts in this park.

Children try their hand at basketball and tennis without having to leave their community.

Adults may come by to relieve the stress of a long day by swinging in the peace and quiet of the surrounding woods.

There are tennis courts and two half-court basketball courts in the newer section of Braemar as well, located off of Rob Roy Way.  As a resident of Braemar you can use any Braemar amenity you wish.  With a park in each section of Braemar, you’re never very far from one.

Braemar Park has something to offer for everyone.  And even if you never use one amenity in the park, it will help you in the resale value of your Braemar home.  Communities like Braemar with so many amenities, including two pools, are always sought after by buyers.

Braemar’s Clareybrook Park

Welcome to Braemar’s Clareybrook Park, located just off the intersection of Rob Roy Way and Sudley Manor Drive.   This is one of two official parks in Bristow, VA’s Community of Braemar, Braemar Park being the other.

Clareybrook Park is most well-known as “the park next to the pool.”  This area in the newer, or more recent built section of Braemar was carved out for recreation for kids twelve and below, but has some aurrounding attractions that serve residents of all ages.  For the purpose of this article, we won’t focus on the pools in Braemar.  This is to acquaint you with the fun you can have virtually year round in and around Clareybrook Park and it’s surrounding amenities.

What grabs your attention first, is the brightly colored playground.  Complete with the slide and swings you would expect, Clareybrook offers many other play sets for your children to explore.

One of the little noticed features of the playground is the asphalt track that circles it.  A great place for a sibling who prefers to bike or rollerblade, while their brother or sister romps on the playground.

There are two kid-sized half-court basketball courts within Clareybrook Park.  This helps those twelve and under players get acquainted with the game on a scale that is more appropriate to their height.

Family oriented activities are encouraged at Clareybrook Park as well.  Enjoy the covered picnic pavillion.  Make an afternoon of it!  Bring lunch or dinner in a basket.

Just outside Clareybrook Park, and open to those over the age of twelve are more teenage and adult friendly are the two half-court basketball courts.  If basketball isn’t your game, try a game of tennis.  There’s a completed fenced court.

Of course, if you’d like a mental “day at the beach”, bring your volleyball.  With the water splashing beside you from the Iona Sound  Pool, you might just be able to get that vacation feeling.

And when you’re done with your meal, take a relaxing stroll on the Braemar Trail.   This walking path strolls through the neighborhood and connects with the Broad Run Trail.   It even connects with Cedar Point Elementary.

There are so many things to do in this one location in Braemar.  If you haven’t yet explored it, you should.  Of course, if you are looking for a community that offers amenities like these, there are large number of townhoues and single family homes surrounding Clareybrook Park.  Homes of all sizes and price ranges.

Explore Braemar.  It’s a community with much to offer.
